Happy Mother’s Day, everyone. I hope all of the moms out there are enjoying a nice, relaxing day.
It sure has been a while since I posted to this site and, for that, I sincerely apologize. Life sometimes gets in the way, but I do promise to do my best to do better going forward.
You may wonder why I chose a “Mother’s Day” post as the subject to “reactivate” this site. Well, the reason is quite simple. When I think of Mother’s Day, I think of my momma, Joyce Hicks. She also happens to be the person who worked very hard to make Christmas a very special time for me.
When I was eight years old, my daddy passed away. Momma was left with the daunting task of raising four children on her own. Despite all of the hardships and financial struggles, Momma did her very best to make sure that Christmas was a magical and happy time for us. It wasn’t until I became a grown-up and a parent that I truly realized just how much she sacrificed so that we could have those wonderful experiences.
Sadly, Momma passed away on May 28, 2008, but her memory stays with her children every day… and her love of Christmas continues on.
